Overview & Reviews
This year the Grand Caravan receives a styling refresh and a new Stow 'n Go seating and storage system with fold-flat second- and third-row seats, as well as a hefty base price reduction.
- Excellent ride and handling characteristics, good low-end pull from 3.8-liter V6, roomy cabin, nifty fold-flat second- and third-row seats.

Good Van - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Pete Riess - September 30 - 6:13 amHave owned 2 other Dodge vans this one is the best yet. Handles better and seems to be a sturdier vehicle. Audio controls on steering wheel a good safety/convenience feature. Good ride. Be careful however, the exhaust pipe runs just under passenger side slider, easy for child to reach for dropped toy and get burned.

I love it, but... - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Quinn - September 9 - 10:06 amThis is the first vehicle Ive purchased. I waited a long time for it! All was beautiful until the drivers side sliding door opened while I was driving at 40 mph! I think it may have been a factory defect. Then later the door would NOT open when I was parked! Smooth ride, Squeaky brakes, but a smooth ride! Extremely comfortable!

SE plus power train - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By SEPlus - September 3 - 10:00 amI bought a SE plus 2005 Grand caravan vehicle couple of months back. Initially vehicle was good but now it is not that great. Currently I have about 3000 miles only. Getting a rattle noise from engine(started around 1500 miles), checked with dealer couple of times but they claim it is normal for this powertrain. Dealers are not ready to write anything about the design flaw. Dealership Mechanics agree that it is an issue with 2005 models, but they refuse to give in writing.I am posting here as it might help the ones who is planning to buy one. I would strongly caution them.

Great Family Ride - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By themightyq - August 24 - 4:53 pmBought this van eight months ago and have driven 8500 miles. Overall, this van is probably the best on the market. We love the stow and go seating and it has a great A/C system. Some people might not like sitting so high in the drivers seat, but my wife does. Gives you a good view of the road. MPG is approx. 18 city and 25 hwy

Unreliable piece of Junk - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Unreliable - runaway - August 12 - 10:00 amBought this Grand Caravan SXT with 19K and 11 months old. Paid extra for extended warranty, got my moneys worth after replacing the Door motors SEVEN TIMES! Now post warranty, drivers side only opens auto (no manual door motor clutch stuck), passenger side is only manual, door motor shot. Radiator rusted at 80K, now just dies with no notice, no error code while on HWY at 50+ miles an hour. Hey Chrysler, try a curve at 55 with no power steering %^&*! Dealers and my mechanic cant find anything, no error codes. AC controls on dash, lights flicker on/off, poor solder in unit, had to replace. NOT SAFE, get a HONDA 2011 Odyssey like I did. Still have this Caravan for I cant sell it, unsafe!

2005 SXT after 9 months - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By ikarus - June 9 - 8:36 pmA couple of things with the interior design are irritating. Window and door lock controls are not back-lit. You cant see them at night. Ditto for the steering wheel controls for radio and cruise control. You cant see the hood release and parking brake release at night. Also, theres too much clutter on the radio and A/C panels. Just too many buttons. Power seats do not lower enough. Ive bumped my head many times getting in and out of the car. And the leather seats are not that comfortable. Mileage on a round trip to Arizona settled in on about 24.5 mpg. Of course this was at speeds between 70 and 75.

Brakes, Oil, and front end - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Steve-O - May 23 - 12:06 pmThis car has been useful to us. The stow and go appeal is practical for our family of five. Its utility cannot be denied. I have replaced the front rotors at 30k, and at 50k, and we now have to watch the oil level as it will creep to the minimum "add a quart" line on the dipstick just prior to reaching 3k on the oil & filter change. Tie Rods and steering assembly failures are not uncommon amongst our circle of friends who own them. So, good design, some cheap parts in the front assembly and brake rotors make these problems prolific in this model. If you know that and understand it going in, youll be fine.

Great Buy/Great Value/Great Van!!! - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Nathan & Lauren - May 16 - 9:20 pmMy husband and I love this van. We did a great deal of research when looking for a new car. We also liked the Honda Odyssey but found that the extras in the vehicle were NOT worth the added expense! The Dodge Grand Caravan is a spacious, economical van while continuing to be a thrill to drive. A huge step above the 2004 Grand Caravan!! We highly recommend this van to anyone!!!
